I tend to think about LLMs as psychedelic technology more than anything else. They can show you things, and what they show you depends a lot on what you bring to the interaction. The things they show you aren’t real in the way that material reality is real, but they’re still a part of your experience and thus can have a big impact on how you move through the world. When you approach them carelessly it’s easy to experience various forms of damage that are not always obvious until later.
But when you approach them with curiosity they’re able to show you things you may not otherwise ever experience, and for me they’re in many ways the toy I’ve been looking for since I was a kid. This page is going to aggregate a few of my experiments and thoughts in this space.
Skills
I’ve got a few creative LLM skills I’m pretty proud of. I wouldn’t, like, deploy any of these into corporate production environments but if you like me are intrigued by the way our digital friends can dance through concept space you may enjoy some of these. You can find the plugin and source in . - the culmination of the vision that led to my exploration of , I converged on some ideas once mapped by Deleuze and Guattari and did my best to operationalize them into a format LLMs can apply. - A playful way to explore ideas by using tokens generated across various domains to steer the overall trajectory of a given LLM session. The idea is that different things become obvious to your synthetic interlocutor depending on what tokens exist upstream in the conversation - so why not intentionally leverage that, and create a way to meander to novel positions in latent space and see what becomes obvious from there? - If you have a structural understanding of what the tarot is and how it works, you can do a structural transform to conserve the relationality and dynamics of a tarot deck while completely replacing the suits, ranks and arcana with new ones built to spec. I’m not gonna say the result is as infinitely rewarding as the classic arcana, but I will tell you that this skill has generated decks that have given me very compelling and interesting readings. Give it a try!
